Industrial control cabinet thermal management

Control cabinet fan and filter fan selection for industrial automation panels

Engineering selection for PLC cabinets, VFD panels, automation enclosures and machine-control systems. Define the heat load, pressure path, panel interface and maintenance plan before releasing the exact fan or filter-fan assembly.

SXDOOL industrial cooling fan for control cabinet airflow engineering

Selection evidence for panel builders and controls engineers

Cabinet airflow is an installed-system problem. Free-air fan CFM, filter-fan assembly airflow and enclosure operating-point airflow are not interchangeable. SXDOOL reviews the fan, filter media, panel opening, mounting depth and airflow path as one qualification package.

Design input Engineering check Evidence required before release
Heat load and ambient Estimate required heat removal and maximum internal temperature. Duty profile, internal losses, ambient range and derating rule.
System resistance Include grille, filter, louvers, internal obstructions and loaded-filter pressure loss. Fan pressure-flow curve and clean/loaded assembly test at the intended operating point.
Panel interface Check cutout, mounting depth, gasket, airflow direction and service clearance. Approved assembly drawing and panel-cutout tolerance.
Ingress boundary Qualify the complete installed assembly, not only the standalone fan. Applicable ingress report scope and enclosure installation definition.

Qualification path

1. Define the thermal duty

Send heat loss, cabinet volume, inlet temperature, target internal temperature and operating hours.

2. Match the airflow architecture

Choose filtered positive pressure, exhaust, recirculation or a separated heat-exchange path.

3. Release the exact assembly

Approve the fan model, filter, cutout, gasket, lead wire, terminal, airflow direction and inspection plan.

Control cabinet cooling FAQ

Why should free-air CFM not be used as installed cabinet airflow?

Filters, grilles, louvers and internal restrictions create pressure loss. The installed airflow is the intersection of the fan pressure-flow curve and the cabinet system-resistance curve, so free-air CFM alone does not establish the duty point.

How should a panel cutout and mounting depth be qualified?

Use the approved assembly drawing for cutout dimensions, tolerance, fastener pattern, mounting depth, gasket interface, airflow direction and filter service clearance. Do not derive a cutout only from the nominal fan frame size.

What does the SXDOOL IP54 filter-fan evidence cover?

The supplied report identifies the tested SC-803Glk ventilation filter group and its stated variant rule. It does not automatically qualify every standalone fan or every filter-kit size; request the report scope and exact assembly definition for the selected project.

Control cabinet selection paths

Compare fan platforms by power architecture, frame depth and resistance

Use these model pages to narrow the electrical and mechanical platform before requesting a drawing-controlled configuration. Final selection still depends on the cabinet system curve, dirty-filter condition, ambient temperature, wiring and service access.

Filter fan assembly routes

Compare cabinet filter fan kits by fan subassembly and installation envelope

The assembly operating point depends on the selected fan, grille, filter condition, panel cutout and cabinet resistance. Use the two product routes below as starting points, then request the applicable assembly drawing and clean or loaded filter evidence.
