12V, 24V or 48V: start with the fan power rail
12V custom
Projects: OEM workstations, compute enclosures and edge equipment with a suitable 12V fan supply.
Define before sampling: supply range and startup current; controller pinout, PWM and FG levels; mounting and acoustic limits.
24V featured / custom
Projects: industrial controls, drives, power supplies and power-electronics cooling with a 24V auxiliary rail.
Define before sampling: the featured model is 1.50A nominal; verify startup demand and supply capacity, thermal duty point and environment.
48V custom
Projects: telecom, network and DC equipment with a compatible regulated fan supply; auxiliary cooling in power-conversion systems.
Define before sampling: actual minimum/maximum voltage, polarity, transients and any DC/DC conversion, plus configuration-specific current and control signals.
These are separate motor configurations, not one universal-input fan. A telecom −48V bus, a nominal 48V battery or a high-voltage charging bus is not automatically a compatible fan supply. Select from the voltage available at the fan connection.
Five reasons to specify this 9238 fan
- Featured 24V model: 10,000 RPM for demanding airflow paths. Evaluate this 38 mm-deep fan where heat sinks, filters or densely packed components create resistance. Select against the required airflow at system pressure, with the acoustic limit included in the review.
- Dual ball bearings. A mechanical bearing configuration for equipment projects that specify ball-bearing support. Final service life depends on the operating conditions and the approved version.
- Copper center tube. A defined center-tube construction for buyers who need the internal mechanical specification documented before sample approval.
- Riveted impeller assembly. The five-blade impeller uses riveted construction. Request a structure review and sample when qualifying the assembly for your equipment.
- PWM control plus FG feedback. Set the speed through a compatible controller and read the speed-feedback signal. Confirm pin assignment, voltage levels and PWM requirements before connection.

Where to evaluate the 9238 series
Compute equipment and edge servers
Evaluate a 12V configuration for an OEM workstation, edge server or compute enclosure when its power architecture and installation space suit a 92 mm fan. The engineering task is to move air through board-level heat sinks and dense assemblies while the controller adjusts speed and monitors FG feedback. Specify the airflow path, control-board current capacity and allowed noise. A 92 mm frame is not a universal rack-server or proprietary hot-swap fan replacement.
Industrial controls, servo drives and power supplies
A 24V auxiliary rail makes industrial control cabinets, drives and power-supply compartments practical starting points. Focus on local heat sinks and filter pressure loss. Provide maximum ambient temperature, enclosure restrictions and the fan duty point so the configuration can be evaluated under load. Check power capacity against both continuous and startup demand.
EV chargers, inverters and energy-storage power conversion
Consider the 9238 format for compact forced-air paths around power modules, control electronics or heat sinks. Choose 12V, 24V or 48V from the equipment’s auxiliary supply, independently of its charging or battery voltage. Outdoor designs need a defined dust/moisture target, cable-exit protection, drainage and thermal tests. Request an IP68 configuration where required; it is not the default rating of every series member.
Telecom, network and DC power equipment
A custom 48V fan can be evaluated where the equipment provides a compatible fan rail and sufficient space. Telecom input polarity and operating range must be checked: equipment supplied from a −48V bus may power its internal fans from a converted lower-voltage rail. Define converter output, startup margin, alarms and control-interface isolation as applicable to the design.
Air-side cooling in liquid-cooling equipment
Liquid-cooled equipment may still need airflow for control boards, power compartments or an air-side heat-rejection assembly. Evaluate the 9238 fan against that particular air path and its pressure loss. This is an air-moving component; pump service, coolant immersion and compatibility with a specific radiator or CDU are not implied.
These are engineering application candidates, not claims of installation in a named equipment brand. The 10,000 RPM featured version has a 69 dBA noise reference, so include acoustic limits early in the project.
High static pressure: select at the actual operating point
With a filter, heat sink or restrictive duct, free-air CFM alone does not determine cooling. Match the fan’s pressure–airflow curve to the system’s resistance and validate the resulting airflow at the required temperature. Maximum airflow and maximum static pressure are different endpoints, not simultaneous performance. Request the curve for the exact voltage and speed configuration.
OEM configuration review
Use the 24V / 10,000 RPM / FG + PWM model as a physical reference, then define the 12V, 24V or 48V version around your equipment. Project requests can include:
- Supply voltage: 12V, 24V or 48V target versions.
- Speed: project targets within 4,500–15,000 RPM, subject to motor, impeller and duty-point feasibility.
- Protection: an IP68 target for an appropriate custom configuration, with the fan, cable exit, termination and installation requirements reviewed together.
- Signals: FG, RD, reverse-RD and PWM requirements with a defined interface. These are distinct functions and are not all included in the standard four-wire reference.
- Integration: connector, terminal, wire assignment, cable length and identification requirements.
Custom versions require a separate approved specification and sample validation. Their current, airflow, pressure, noise and delivery conditions are quoted for the selected configuration.

9238 series: engineering questions
Can I order the 9238 fan in 12V or 48V?
Yes. SXDOOL can review custom 12V, 24V and 48V configurations. The SXD9238B24H-PWM shown here is the 24V representative. Current, startup demand, speed range, pressure–airflow performance and noise are specified separately for each approved version.
Can the same fan run on 12V, 24V and 48V?
These are separate supply configurations, not a universal operating range. Select the version for the actual voltage at the fan terminals, including minimum/maximum voltage and transients. Do not infer compatibility from nominal system voltage alone.
Which applications should use the 9238 series?
Evaluate it for OEM compute equipment, industrial controls, drives, power supplies, charger or inverter power electronics, telecom/DC equipment and air-side auxiliary cooling. Confirm 92 × 92 × 38 mm space, mounting geometry, power and control interfaces, and the thermal operating point.
Why does static pressure matter in a compact enclosure?
Filters, heat sinks and ducts resist airflow. Select using the fan pressure–airflow curve and system resistance; free-air CFM alone does not show installed cooling performance. Request data for the exact voltage and speed configuration.
Is 132.79 CFM the rated airflow for every 9238 version?
No. It is the supplied SXD9238B24H-PWM test reference at 21.7V, not a rated 24V measurement or a specification for 12V and 48V custom versions. Confirm configuration-specific test data before thermal design release.
Is IP68 standard, and which signals can be customized?
IP68 is a custom project target with separately agreed protection and test requirements. The featured four-wire model provides PWM and FG. RD, reverse-RD, PWM and FG requirements can be reviewed for the ordered configuration, together with connector, pinout and cable length.
Does four-wire PWM mean PC motherboard compatibility?
No. Supply voltage, available current, connector, pinout, PWM requirements and FG signal levels must match the controller. Four leads alone do not establish direct compatibility.
What should I send for an OEM quotation?
Send your application, fan supply range, mounting drawing, airflow and pressure requirement, ambient temperature, noise limit, signal definition, protection target, connector and cable details, sample quantity and forecast volume.
